The dems were holding out for more information into how the investigation into the "affair" was handled before they would agree to expulsion? They thought that the repubs were trying to quickly oust Courser and Gamrat so as to sweep details under the rug? So it was a tight vote (no expulsion) a couple days ago despite the findings of the investigation?

But, late this evening/early this morning suddenly the majority vote was to expel. What new information did they receive in the short time between the votes?

26 Democrats refused to vote, claiming it was a railroading and they wanted to investigate more (or drag it out for bad publicity!)...6 votes short at 9 PM Thursday....so all the drama came after the paper went to press.

The Detroit news link says it all wound down at 4 AM. Bad time to make decisions or ask for favors...

Dems were holding out for proper investigations and they got what they wanted. Well played imo.

Have gotten away with it except for the aides having ethics and morals even when faced with unemployment.
