Phillips continues to make the rounds. Earlier with Chuck Todd

He was not in politics in 2012 therefore one cannot ask him whether he would have similar ideas when Obama ran for re-election. I know that one of my objections to Sanders is that he wished then for someone to primary challenge Obama.

Todd did show him that when a sitting president is challenged within his party the party loses. Reagan to Ford, Kennedy to Carter.. Phillips did not respond to this.

I think that after they return to their offices, after Labor Day? I will call his office. After all, at some point they did call me to thank me for my support and modest contribution.

He's a very capable Congressman, but I wish he'd back off on this and just do his regular job which he's good at.

he is in his 3rd term & when first elected in 2018 was the first Democrat to represent that area in nearly 60 years.

His district is made up of Minneapolis suburbs and would be considered "purple" - for those of us who live there, that's an improvement over what it was. Dean is more moderate and makes a deal out of being part of the "problem solvers caucus". There are those of us who wish he'd lay off some of the kumbaya stuff but, over all, he is a good fit for the district.

He has recently announced that he is thinking of running for the Democratic nomination in 2024. Not only would he be challenging any incumbent Democrat, he really is delusional if he thinks he's ready to be president.

campaign in early 2017. People who know him better than I do never saw the ego going crazy like this.

He also annoyed and disappointed me when he came out publicly saying Diane Feinstein should resign. I believe Senator Feinstein has served her constituents, the country, and the Democratic party well. She deserves the respect and consideration that any discussion of her health and ability to continue in her job be done privately - not discussed publicly by a rep (not even from the same state) who thinks it makes him look "bipartisan".

good work they've accomplished, the other three not so much. But come on, neither is about to go along with primarying a sitting Democratic president as they've got more sense than that.

Too bad Phillips dosn't. Wonder what kind of drug is he on to even suggest something like that out loud?

Last week he was on the CBS program.

Here is the program

Starting at the 23 min mark

And the mentioning of other spoiler at the 29 min.

the transcript is

CHUCK TODD:

The case against what you're talking about is basically the history of our lifetimes, okay? You go back, the last four sitting presidents who had serious primary challengers, that party lost the White House.

REP. DEAN PHILLIPS:

But Chuck, why did they--

CHUCK TODD:

We can go back to LBJ, but also Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush.

REP. DEAN PHILLIPS:

But why were they primaried? Because people recognized they were weakened. The country was ready to turn the page

===

The main objection really is, the first primary, if we will have one, is five months away. One cannot mount a presidential campaign on such a short time.

He's in his second term as representative, so I suppose it's not quite 'starter'. But I get no feeling that he's able to understand the job. Negotiation, compromise, never getting 100% of your way no matter how right it is, are not CEO experiences. It's not a skill in his toolbox yet. And it's crucial for a president.

There are others more qualified, if Dark Brandon can't or won't run. And I've seen no sign that that's the case.

My first choice - Biden. Second, Harris. Third, Raskin. I'll vote for Phillips only if he's the nominee, and that's only because I'd vote for Fast Eddie (my crazed and slightly feral cat) before I'd vote for a republican. And I vote. Every time. I research and vote for School Board. I show up even if School Board is the only thing on the ballot.

People not voting is how we got Michelle Bachman.

I haven't been to the fair since 2019 but at that time his booth was just down the street from the DFL's.

Odds are it's still there. It seems once an office holder has a booth it stays in the same location forever.
