MPR: "Dying breed? 'Blue Dog' Peterson fired up to run"

"Lots of rural Democrats walked the Capitol halls when U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson arrived in 1991. Like Peterson, many proudly counted themselves as pro-farm conservatives.

Most are gone now, beaten or retired during the past 20 years as the nation's politics became fractured along party lines. Peterson acknowledges he's one of the last of his breed. But he says he's not going anywhere."

and make it official, since he almost always votes with them anyhow. The only thing he's useful for is the Dem head count.

I always wondered why he did not change parties.

Has he been seriously challenged within the party for the seat?

Apostolic Lutherans and other Evangelical Groups West of St Cloud. Another big supporter of course is the Sugar Beet Industry. This Guy refused to back the Grain Millers in their strike against Southern Minny Sugar Co-op last year. Pretty much nails this Guys creed's.
