Has Christie finally paid off his presidential campaign debt?
WASHINGTON Gov. Chris Christie's presidential campaign made no progress paying off its debt over the last three months, owing $170,505 at the end of September, new Federal Election Commission filings show.
That's the same amount he owed at the end of June after a May fundraiser hosted by Donald Trump helped whittle it down from $383,518 at the end of April.
Christie still owed $85,798 to the Gibbons law firm, where a long-time adviser, Bill Palatucci, served as special counsel; and $26,753 for a political event. Newark-based Gibbons PC was one of only eight entities to spend more than $1 million to lobby the state government in 2015, according to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.
The campaign reported $30,850 in the bank.
