De Blasio Delays Release of Affordable Housing Plan to Push Union Deal

Mayor Bill de Blasio has delayed the release of his flagship affordable housing plan, which he had promised to unveil by May 1, to focus on labor negations.

The specifics of his ambitious plan to create and preserve 200,000 units of affordable over the next 10 years were expected to be announced in a speech tomorrow. But this evening, aides confirmed it has been pushed back.

“The housing announcement planned for tomorrow has been postponed. More information will be available soon,” mayoral spokesman Phil Walzak said via email. The news was first reported by Crain’s New York Business.
