National Grid electric bills to provide a shock

Daily News Staff

National Grid customers will see their electric bills increase in May, and you can blame it on the harsh winter.

Those bills are expected to reach area households shortly.

Electric bills will see an average increase of $25 to $30 per month in May, a continuing hangover from one of the coldest winters in recent history.

A household that uses 600 kilowatt hours a month will see electric bills climb to about $100 in May, up about $27 from April, according to National Grid utility estimates.
