President Obama is heading to New York on Wednesday to speak in front of the Tappan Zee Bridge and call for more infrastructure spending, according to a White House official.
Obama will also highlight his administrations push to speed up the approval timelines for massive infrastructure projects and modernize the permitting process.
The Tappan Zee Bridge replacement project, of course, is a major feather in the cap of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who had pointed to the delay in building a new span between Westchester and Rockland counties a symbol of government dysfunction.
The bridge replacement project, currently underway at an adjacent location to the current bridge, is expected to cost about $3.9 billion, a price tag for New York that is being aided by a $1.6 billion federal loan.
