"Everyday" objects tell the heartbreak of 9/11: Mayor de Blasio

In a moving speech at the dedication ceremony of the September 11 Memorial Museum, Mayor de Blasio said the "ordinary everyday objects" on display will help us better understand the tragedy - including a pair of dusty black pumps worn by a survivor of the day.

"Don't we all own a pair of shoes we wear to work? It could've been the ones we wore that day," de Blasio said in brief remarks on Thursday.

The mayor also highlighted another museum exhibit - 38 stairs that were the last World Trade Center remnant found above ground after the tragedy
