Times' Baquet promises urgent action on innovation report

Jeremy Barr

Newly minted New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet told staff in a memo Friday that he will "move with urgency" on the recommendations of an internal innovation report.

He called the report, which concluded that the Times has not done enough with the journalism it creates, "invigorating" and an "honest appraisal."

"It is very candid and was meant to be an honest investigation of where we are and need to be — and for that reason was never intended for wide circulation," Baquet said.
