Coney Island Ceremony To Mark Official Kickoff Of Summer Season In NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A celebration on Coney Island Thursday will mark the official kickoff of the summer season in New York City.

Thursday morning, officials will announce the opening of city beaches for the Memorial Day weekend, where life guards will start work at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Beach vendors wait all year for this money-making weekend hoping the hype surrounding new attractions pays off.
