New York doctors group wants credentials on display

AP

ALBANY — A group representing New York doctors is urging the state Legislature to require medical practitioners to display their specific licenses and credentials. They note some of their colleagues advertise being “board certified” when it doesn’t actually apply to their current specialty.

The Medical Society of the State of New York, with 25,000 physician members, says pending bills would help end widespread patient confusion like believing an optometrist is a physician.
