STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- GOP Rep. Michael Grimm appears to be having some trouble staffing his congressional office, according to an email obtained by Politico on Wednesday.
In the email, Grimm's deputy chief of staff, Blaire Bartlett, reportedly says, "As you can imagine it hasn't been easy to find a qualified candidate who wants to live on the edge and take a chance working for Rep. Grimm."
Bartlett sent the email looking to recruit a health and education legislative assistant for the congressman's Capitol Hill staff, according to a report from Politico.
The email continues to read: "Ideally this person would have legislative experience. Hill experience would be great and NYC experience would be amazing, but beggars can't be choosers, right?"

PORT RICHMOND - Democratic congressional candidate Domeic M. Recchia on Wednesday said that the controversy over low-income housing that has erupted in this year's House race reminded him of a similar issue in last year's heated GOP Mid-Island City Council primary.
"What Michael Grimm and Guy Molinari are trying to do right now is the same thing they did to Steve Matteo," Recchia told the Advance during a campaign stop at Denino's Pizzeria and Tavern in Port Richmond. "Again we're getting into this. Let's talk about the issues.
The controversy began last week when borough GOP vice chairman William D'Ambrosio sent out a fundraising letter for Recchia's opponent, Rep. Michael Grimm (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn), saying that Recchia will rely on "votes from Brooklyn housing projects" to win, and would "surely build low-income housing in our neighborhoods."
That brought a rebuke from Staten Island Democratic chairman John Gulino and his Brooklyn counterpart, Frank Seddio, who called upon Grimm to denounce the comments, and saying the Grimm campaign was making a racist appeal to voters.
