Land banks backed amid probe questions

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says he hasn't hired a lawyer to represent him in the burgeoning controversy surrounding Gov. Andrew Cuomo's handling of his Moreland Commission on public corruption.
"We're offering our assistance to the United States Attorney's Office, and that's all I'm going to say," Schneiderman said Friday.
The attorney general came to Schenectady to announce a new round of funds his office is providing to land banks to help revitalize distressed neighborhoods. Schneiderman's midday appearance attracted a bevy of reporters who peppered him with Moreland-related questions. Had he been subpoenaed? Could he bring in a special prosecutor to look into the matter?
"As excited as you all are to come to Schenectady just to listen to us talk about the land bank, I'm just really not going to comment any further," he said.
