Cuomo's 'Governor's Challenge' on Owasco Lake Saturday to promote Finger Lakes, local tourism industry
Robert Harding
While professional anglers aim for the biggest catch on Cayuga Lake, Gov. Andrew Cuomo will hold a friendly fishing competition of his own Saturday on nearby Owasco Lake.
Cuomo, who will be making his first trip to Cayuga County since taking office in 2011, will bring the "Governor's Challenge" to central New York. He has previously held challenges in the Adirondacks whitewater rafting races to promote the region's assets and the local tourism industry.
The governor is expected to spend most of the day in Cayuga County. While his schedule for Saturday hasn't been released, the fishing portion of the day will likely occur in the morning. A luncheon is also in the works featuring locally grown and New York-made products, according to Meg Vanek, executive director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism.

Traffic should be interesting next weekend. Not "POTUS-in-town" interesting, like last year, but nonetheless interesting.

Secretary Seward's father-in-law, Elijah Miller, was a cousin of my great-great-great-great grandfather, for what it's worth.
