New law to address school overcrowding

By RICHARD MOODY

A new state law will address future overcrowding in New York City public schools.

The law (A.10108/S.07873) will require the city's School Construction Authority to collect population data and use it in forming the state mandated five-year plans for projects on schools. The authority and the city school chancellor must also determine the possible effects of future population growth on school overcrowding.
