Brooklyn District Attorney To Impanel Grand Jury in Akai Gurley Case

The Brooklyn District Attorney said Friday he plans to impanel a grand jury to consider charges in the Nov. 20 shooting death of an unarmed black man at the hands of a rookie New York City police officer.

District Attorney Ken Thompson ’s civil-rights unit had been investigating the fatal shooting of Akai Gurley, 28 years old, along with the New York Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau.
