De Blasio heralds the arrival of summer, in Rockaway

For the first time since he was heckled at the peninsula’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Mayor Bill de Blasio made a public visit to the Rockaways on Friday.

It went pretty well.

He arrived basically on time to the intersection of Beach 94th Street and the Atlantic Ocean. He hit notes that seemed to resonate with the dozens of community members who turned out to see him. The parade of elected officials who joined the press conference lavished him with praise.
