2 found dead after fire at YMCA in White Plains

Eyewitnesss News

WHITE PLAINS (WABC) -- Two men were found dead after a fire early Saturday morning at a YMCA in White Plains.

The fire broke out at about 4:00 a.m. on the third floor of the complex at 250 Mamaroneck Avenue, and the floor became fully engulfed in flames.

One of the victims was found on the first floor, the other on the third floor.

Dozens of other people sleeping in the building's residence hall evacuated safely.

Authorities say about 60 people have been displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

About four dozen people have been staying there. Volunteers and staff from around the Greater New York area have been managing it.
