Yes!!!!!!! de Blasio goes above 40%! Thank you NYC Democrats!

Bill de Blasio surges past 40% in latest Quinnipiac poll for New York City Mayor

Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- In a New Quinnipiac University Poll, Bill de Blasio has surged past the 40 percent needed to be the Democratic nominee for New York City Mayor.

The poll finds that City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Bill Thompson are battling for a runoff spot if there is indeed one needed.

Any candidate that passes the 40 percent cutoff, would avoid a potential runoff.

The poll states that with 47 percent of black voters and 44 percent of women voters, de Blasio surges to 43 percent of likely voters in the Democratic primary for mayor.

Thompson, the former City Comptroller is at 20 percent with 18 percent for Quinn and 7 percent for U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner.
