Spitzer Seeks Redemption In Brooklyn; Stringer Begs Voters: Elect Someone "With Integrity''
BY Mara Gay
"Making mistakes, but bouncing back. That's what this is all about. That's what this city is about," Spitzer said, standing before a large mural of a black Jesus at a National Action Network candidate forum in Brooklyn.
The former governor, who resigned in 2008 after he was caught paying tens of thousands of dollars for prostitutes, has a 15-point lead over Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, according to a NYT/Siena College survey released Friday.
Although other polls last week showed the candidates in a dead heat, it was clear Tuesday that Stringer is the underdog in the race, battling to salvage his candidacy from the jaws of a popular, big-name, big-money rival who seemingly came out of nowhere.
And so after Spitzer left Tuesday, Stringer stood up and began to preach.
