Here in Northern Ohio too. My throat has been scratchy and I've been sneezing and blowing my nose a lot. I thought I was coming down with a cold, but I'm not really sick so it must just be allergies.

Kentucky is know for being an awful place to live if you have allergies but this is the worst year I have had in a long time. Nearly everyone I know with allergy issues are really suffering. Our weather is gorgeous, perfect temp, beautiful blue skies and we are all praying for frost!

go because what can they do? Always want to pass antibiotics etc, but I was pleasantly surprised and the little pills made me be able to sleep. They aren't suppressants, but anti tussive that calms the cough center in the brain. It's what made all the difference in being able to get full night's sleep.

I've never had allergies this bad...that's why I thought I had the flu. A couple of years ago, I got caught in a cedar pollen release and that was amazing! Sick as a dog for a few days; it was like the fog rolling in at the ocean, except the ocean is 2000 miles away!

moved here five years ago from Kansas. Here my allergies hardly bother me. Right now the chamisa is in bloom and that bothers a lot of people. This week I've had a couple of sneezing fits, but nothing to be concerned about.

In the spring the juniper causes the worst allergies I've ever seen anywhere. The people with it are completely miserable, and it seems as though not much helps.

If I get that juniper allergy I am leaving. I've put up with allergies most of my life, everywhere I've lived, and if I can possibly move away from them I will.

In Santa Fe the allergy-causing plants are mainly native ones. Which may be why I'm still not suffering.

Do not move to Phoenix or Tucson, however. Starting just after WWII when a/c became affordable, many people moved to those cities from somewhere east, claiming they really, really loved the desert. The very first thing they did was plant all of the things they missed from back home. As a consequence, by the early 60's, when I first lived in Tucson, the pollen counts were a problem. I lived in Phoenix in the 80's and my allergies kept me miserable much of the time.

So check a lot of things out carefully before you move.

I love living here in Santa Fe. It's high desert, 7,000 feet, with amazing clear skies, especially at night. And since the allergy-producing stuff is native, you shouldn't bring any NYC allergies with you.

But there are lots of choices: big city, small city, rural, mountain, valley, and so on. NYC has its charms, and it has long been a dream of mine to live there for a while, hopefully a year. It could happen if I plan carefully.

If you ever came to NY move to the outer boroughs. Manhattan is too expensive.

The only reason i watch the local news at 5:30 every morning is because Chris Cimino on 4 gives the pollen count along with the weather. My eyes have been itching so bad I want to scratch them out with my fingers. My ears even itch!!! Even my dogs are suffering. All of us take Zyrtec. Claritin doesn't do bupkus for me.

Hope you feel better soon!!!

Beautiful fall weather--cloudless, sunny days with a refreshing undercurrent of autumnal chill.
But, the heat exacerbates the dust factor, which adds to the irritant of trees that seed in the fall.
Kaaachooooo!

Discovered this home remedy a few years ago and it really helps.

The aloe dissolves in your nose and stops the irritants' effects there. It also runs down your throat very slightly and has the same effect on your air passage.
Good stuff!

Also, putting menthol or eucalyptus based gel on your temples and forehead helps to head off allergy headaches.

... week of August. (Seasonal rhinitis type stuff; not asthma ) Figured it was something in the air out there that wasn't in the air here. Anyway it went away when I got back.

I had asthma-like like symptomatology when I was younger but never severely enough to earn me an official diagnosis. But always had really bad seasonal allergies .

In any case, everything got significantly better when I started going to an allergist --- first weekly, then monthly, then I eventually was able to stop going altogether. ( I had pretty good health coverage. It didn't cost me much. This was 20 yrs ago.) I'm pretty much allergy free now.

Your results may vary. Take care of 'yerself. ( I'm assuming you have a room humidifier? That used to help me. It made sleep more than vague abstraction. ) Hope you feel better soon.
