Rotterdam could be cutting EMS services

Emergency services in Rotterdam could be on life support. Rotterdam's Town Supervisor presented a budget on Wednesday night that has caused some controversy in the community. It includes plans to cut EMS services from the town. Erin Vannella has more.
ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- It's a cost cutting measure some are worried would put them in danger.
Rotterdam's Town Supervisor presents a budget that would cut the town's paramedics and hire instead an outside EMS. The supervisor says using Mohawk Ambulance Service, instead of having the town's own paramedic workers, would save money.
Some residents are concerned with response times with an outside company.
Town leaders say the move would save taxpayers about half a million dollars and wouldn't affect the quality of service they receive since Mohawk staffs paramedics.
