Sources: Weiner To Launch Mayoral Campaign Next Week

Sources say disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner is expected to announce his run for mayor early next week, and that he has hired a campaign manager. So far, Weiner seems to be saving his war chest, as campaign finance records show the former congressman spent only $12,500 on the race in the past two months.

Weiner has not been fundraising just yet, but has $4.3 million at his disposal for a potential mayoral bid.

His two biggest expenses so far are $7,000 to lease his office space and a $5,000 payment to playwright Jessica Provenz, who helped Weiner write a policy booklet that will presumably be the framework for his campaign. Weiner has not yet commented on the hire, or on when the official announcement will be made.

He resigned from Congress in 2011, after he was caught sending lewd pictures of himself to women he met online and later lied about it.

Last I heard, people aren't ready for Weiner just yet. Hopefully he's learned his lesson and will refrain from sending pictures of himself unless it's the official photo.
