Cox Talks Up Astorino 2014

Republican Chairman Ed Cox in a radio interview Monday morning talked up the possibility of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino running for governor next year while also beating up on Andrew Cuomo’s fiscal record.

Cox told Fred Dicker on his Talk-1300 radio show that the possibility of an Astorino candidacy in 2014 against Cuomo was “exciting” and that the recently re-elected county executive told him at dinner in Puerto Rico has was considering the possibility of running for governor.

Astorino told Dicker in a separate interview that he was considering a gubernatorial campaign next year.

Cox, in the radio interview, said Astorino was an attractive candidate in part because of his personality, emphasis on fiscal issues in Democratic heavy Westchester and ability to win votes.
