Assault suspect killed by police in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – Police are investigating an officer involved shooting of a man at a convenience store in the Orange County city of Middletown Tuesday afternoon

Police Chief Ramon Bethencourt said officers were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m. for a violent dispute in which a man armed with a knife was chasing another.

While the case is under investigation, the chief would only say an officer fired at the suspect, shooting him. He died later at the hospital.

The suspect had no identification on him
