By Gazette staff writers
According to a Marist poll released Monday evening, 47 percent of adults in New York oppose hydrofracking at the Marcellus Shale to extract natural gas while 37 percent support the controversial drilling technique, and 16 percent are unsure.

When this question was last reported in March, 39 percent opposed hydrofracking while 40 percent

supported it. Twenty-one percent, at that time, were unsure.

The views of registered voters mirror those of New Yorkers overall. Forty-nine percent of voters are against using hydrofracking while 39 percent of voters support it. Twelve percent are unsure. In March, voters divided with 41 percent opposed to fracking, and 40 percent supporting it. One in five were unsure.
