NBC

The 50-year-old man who was found dead at the bottom of an air shaft in upper Manhattan Wednesday morning had been shot multiple times, the medical examiner's office says.

Derek Sutton, 50, was pronounced dead after being found outside a building near Seventh Avenue and West 119th Street in Harlem, police say. The man lived a block away.

A medical examiner later ruled the man's death a homicide.
