Schneiderman Raises Off Cahill News

State of Politics

The re-election campaign of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Monday responded to the news that a former aide to Gov. George Pataki is considering a run for AG with a fundraising appeal, according to a copy of an email obtained by Capital Tonight.

Former Pataki secretary John Cahill is not ruling out a run for attorney general, The Daily News’ Ken Lovett reported in his Monday column.

The fundraising email notes the Cahill news comes a day after The Financial Times wrote in a profile of the AG that “there are not many industries Eric Schneiderman, New York State’s 65th Attorney General, is afraid to rein in.”

The pitch from Schneiderman’s re-election team draws on the AG’s role in policing Wall Street and reputation for progressive politics.
