Elise Stefanik endorsed by NY-21 GOP brass

Essex County Republican Elise Stefanik won the overwhelming endorsement of the GOP chairs in the 12-county 21st Congressional District, cementing her as the clear early frontrunner in the Republican race succeed U.S. Rep. Bill Owens.
Stefaniks campaign trumpeted the endorsement Friday afternoon, saying she received the support of chairs representing 87 percent of the weighted vote in the district or 11 of the 12 counties. Only the chair of Jefferson County abstained from the vote, Stefanik said.
On Friday morning the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reported that a Hamilton County man, Jamie Waller, will become the fourth Republican in the race.
But, in an interview, Stefanik said one of the other candidates, Michael Ring of Jefferson County, publicly endorsed her at the GOP meeting today. Joseph Gilbert of St. Lawrence County has also said hes running.
