WROTB steps up efforts to stop Monroe County casino

BATAVIA — The officials who oversee Batavia Downs are stepping up their efforts to prevent the approval of a new casino in Monroe County.

Western Regional OTB Directors agreed Thursday to “expend whatever resources necessary” to block the Seneca Nation of Indians from siting a casino in Henrietta.

WROTB Executive Vice President Michael Nolan said the immediate result of the WROTB’s decision would be the procurement of materials used by No More Casinos Coalition.

Batavia Downs is a major participant in the group, a coalition of gaming, business and residential interests opposed to a locating a fourth Seneca casino in Western New York.
