FDNY ambulances take more than 9 minutes to get to life-threatening emergencies

ERIN DURKIN

City ambulances are taking nine and a half minutes to get to the scene of life threatening emergencies, new city data show.

The average EMS response time was 9 minutes 23 seconds last year - the first time the city has counted response times beginning as soon as someone calls 911.

For the first two months of this year, the number was an even higher 9 minutes 42 seconds.

Pols cried foul over the slow response at a City Council hearing Thursday.
