De Blasio Performs First Marriage at City Hall

Mayor Bill de Blasio performed his first wedding yesterday at City Hall, the mayor’s office confirmed.

“yup. i got married yesterday to sid davidoff. the mayor presided at city hall and it was his first wedding,” tweeted bride Linda Stasi, a columnist for the Daily News, this afternoon.

Mr. de Blasio’s predecessor, Michael Bloomberg, had a strict policy against performing marriages in office, which he made exceptions to three times: Once to remarry former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (which became a running joke with fellow ex-mayors David Dinkins and Ed Koch), once to marry his daughter and once to marry two cabinet members following the legalization of same-sex marriage in the state.
