NC town declares state of emergency, masks for 2yr old and up

The town of Boone in the North Carolina mountains declared a COVID state of emergency on Friday night amid rising cases among the unvaccinated due to the delta variant, officials said.

Effective 5 p.m. Tuesday, ages 2 and older must mask up in all indoor public settings, according to Mayor Rennie Brantz’s declaration. The Town Council voted to reenact the state of emergency first imposed during the pandemic last year.

5. My now 3 year old granddaughter wore a mask as a 2 year old at day care

So did the rest of the 2 year olds. Simple basic “this is what we do”. Ditto extra hand washing. A bonus - fewer colds.

Little kids aren’t stupid - they understand COVID is nasty and what they do helps to keep everyone healthy. Wish I could say that about a whole bunch of adults running around our country

Good for them!
Very few towns in this area will enact mask mandates.

A few days ago we were discussing the meeting in Asheville where folks were objecting to the vote enacting a mask mandate. Hope things run smoothly in Boone, and Asheville too.
