North Carolina governor’s latest moves alienate Latino and LGBT communities

Members of both the LGBT and Latino communities in North Carolina were taken aback by recent decisions by Gov. Pat McCrory’s (R) that are seemingly hostile to them.
McClatchy Newspapers reported on Friday that McCrory shuttered the state office for Latino affairs, saying through a spokesperson that his administration would rely on an advisory council to handle issues related to the state’s Latino population.

Latino advocates pointed out that McCrory closed the office at a time when the Republican party has expressed more interest in reaching out to Latino communities.
“To close the office of Hispanic affairs only goes to confirm what many people suspect in our state,” said Jess George, executive director of the Charlotte-based Latin American Coalition. “Which is that, despite movement with the Republican Party at the national level towards more bipartisan solutions around comprehensive immigration reform, North Carolina conservatives don’t seem to have gotten the same memo.”

feel about people who aren't male, white, and married or claiming to be straight.

they are a twisted bunch --- bigots-a-plenty in their fold.

Oh sure they want the votes (women, they don't give a flying fig about either way - stupidly).

But they make it clear that their true attitude is that women, lgbt, Latinos, and blacks are inferior/non-human.

It's the "we really don't like you but we want you to vote for us anyway so we can get elected" attitude.

Really. Fuck 'em. They remain a lost party.

If NC is smart at all it will tell them to get lost in 2014 by getting rid of a good number of them - enough to flip at least one of the state houses again.

server community, TEACHERS!! students, artists, soldiers, and anyone who has half a brain community.

He has screwed a group a week (sometimes he gets 2 in one week!). Give him another month when the only people who are happy with him are white men and people will remember why the state legislature was Democratic for so long.

If you're keeping score: he was in office barely minutes when he gave raises to the positions that would be his administration (to recruit top talent), he wants $150 million taken from one of the best things NC has going - our UNC system, and state legislature just authorized big bucks to go to update the football stadium in Charlotte. And that's only 3 of his (their) genius moves so far.

We hold up the paper each day and point to that day's idiot move.
