MeckDems, Observer endorsement of Mitchell explained. A LOT of corporate money

has been going into Mitchell's primary campaign recently. The financial elite in this town want Peacock (R-money) in office, and they know Peacock can not defeat Patrick Cannon, the more popular and more competent Dem primary candidate.

Mitchell is the type who doesn't mind letting the money men push him around. So, money men win both ways.

wasn't thinking that others might be interested. Basically, The Charlotte Observer endorsed James Mitchell for the primary, and just about all the Dem activists here are shocked, since Mitchell is not well-liked and has never been a hard worker, yet the endorsement claims he is. Cannon had at least 5 times as many folks marching in the Labor Day parade with him today.

The ONLY way a Dem CAN lose the mayoral race here is if Mitchell is the Dem candidate. Cannon would win in a huge landslide. Couple that with the fact that corporate donors who usually side with Republican candidates here, have been donating to Mitchell's campaign the last few weeks. Doesn't make sense until you realize they're doing it to get the opponent they WANT.
