the constitutional amendment to allow criminal defendants to waive jury trials? I have to admit, I wasn't really prepared for that one.

(28,793 posts)i said no on the premise that it should not have to be a constitutional amendment and as far as i know is already covered by federal rights. anyone correct me if i'm wrong about that.
but yeah, i had no idea that was even on the ballot, my bad.

(961 posts)That's just a matter of common sense. If someone is guilty and wants to forgo a trial, no reason to waste the taxpayers money. Sentence them and move on.

(11,441 posts)and thoughts of Republican charges of "trial lawyers!111!!!" that ran through my head while voting. I left it blank. But it has passed, 53% to 47% (95% reporting).

(961 posts).. the language said this involved trials where the death penalty was not being sought. And some trial lawyers make you want to strangle all of them, but I get what you're saying.
