Transgender woman charged in argument over using ladies' restroom, NC police say

A customer at a Denny’s restaurant in North Carolina wasn’t happy when a transgender woman entered the ladies’ restroom while his wife was in there, police say.

Police in Shelby responded to a call about a disturbance at the restaurant on Sunday, when tensions escalated between the customer and the 22-year-old woman, according to a police report.

The woman ended up being arrested after police say she spit at the customer who complained and cursed at him.

According to police, the customer said “he did not feel that was right” when the woman entered the ladies’ restroom while his wife was also using it.

… baffles me. A transgender woman should have no trouble using the correct restroom. A transgender woman is not a transvestite or a Halloween partyer... she's a woman. Many men and women have a range of appearance - masculine to feminine. How in the word does this man know the woman was transgender? He has a DNA Ray? There must be more to this story...

transition, years on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or how masculine she appeared before she began, determines how male she appears. Early on, you may not need to see someone's genitals to see they are trans. That's why transitioning is so frightening to trans women.

My daughter is one year out (on HRT) and just 2 days ago got the nerve to present female. It was an incredible day. She said she got some confused looks, but otherwise felt good. She's still afraid to present as female at work.
