Marietta College Hosting Series on Natural Gas and Fracking Starting Thurs. Jan. 26
MARIETTA -- In an attempt to have an open conversation and debate about the practice of "fracking," Marietta College's Office of Civic Engagement is hosting a community event series on the topic starting Thursday, Jan. 26.
The series is in conjunction with the college's annual theme of "Energy and Environment."
Community members are encouraged to join the College for a screening of the powerful and controversial documentary Gasland at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

The Office of Civic Engagement follows up with "The Natural Gas and Fracking Panel Forum" at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.
The panelists include: Dr Robert Chase, chair of Marietta's Department of Petroeleum Engineering and Geology; Frank Leeper, vice president of Production at Producers Service Corps; Paul Feezel, founder of Distracted by Nature Organic Farms; and Dr. Richard Wittberg, executive director of the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department.
