Frat house filled with Covid gets busted by cops...

Students with Covid had many people at frat house which was busted by cops. They said that since they were quarantining, it was OK. Cops said it doesn't work that way and, "We have a problem now".

Do some college students who may not get severe symptoms think all is OK to infect others...as long as they aren't attached to a ventilator, what do they care? Do they need to grow up and get educated before attending college?

In the days of polio scares, people's houses were marked/IDed as affected which caused families much shame according to a poster who wrote about this a while back.

This country has serious problems. Didn't the Ohio students' medical personnel instruct them about quarantine and the risks, or the kids ignored it?

ETA: So the policeman learned about the students' Covid from his DL or school ID? Is that standard?

away, isn't that white privilege? I mean he mentioned a $500 dollar fine and the university getting involved but he just left them there with no visible consequences.

I expected a couple of rounds to the back at least. Seven as in Kenoshia would be too much.

No knees to their necks, no shots to their backs; it seemed like the kids didn’t even get fined. Had they been black, it would likely have gone quite differently.

or the quarantined frat house invited additional people over? I'm having trouble here.

edit: claim is/was that there were other individuals (non-residents) at the house

(by definition) Clearly the LE doesn't have any clear guidance or real legal framework here either. He's just kinda winging it -- and making it up as he goes along (as they so often do). And then -- he packs it up and leaves -- no tickets, no summons -- no harm/no foul.

Sooooo .... Are there laws being broken -- or aren't there?

The vice mayor of the town said that the police have given 73 citations for not wearing masks and 7 "mass gathering" citations each is $500 so far.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/11/us/miami-university-student-party-covid-trnd/index.html

The CNN story says that 6 of the guys at the frat house were issued citations....

"Six people, five of whom lived at the house, were issued a citation, according to the police report. The Oxford Police Department told CNN in an email that fines for the citations start at $500."

and a hell of a lot more information than we got from Officer Friendly. Glad to hear there are real statues involved -- and real penalties being handed out. This HAS to happen.

(I hate body cam clips -- not that they aren't a great tool for ascertaining facts on the ground -- but they're just unbearably choppy, unfocused and disjointed -- generally just a real sh*t-show. And this one was actually far better than a lot I've tried to watch!)

And thanks for the post!

compared with the CNN clip of the same thing. CNN put a big, blurry rectangle across the top half of the screen to block the identity of all the students at the same time. All you could see were legs, grass, and sidewalk. I am glad this was on CNN since maybe more idiots behaving the same way may actually have a moment of unselfishness and clarity and change their behavior. However "May bees don't fly in Sept" so I doubt it.

I live in Ohio--all summer long there have been parties, BBQs, weddings, showers ... you name it. No masks, no social distancing. The attitude of many is that as long as I'm white and fairly well off, Covid will not be a problem for me.

I have heard mentioned at least three times in public that this "will all go away on November 4." For too many, something that doesn't affect them immediately and directly has no meaning.

That may be the problem. Of you don't suffer any symptoms, why bother trying to "get better/healthy" and protecting others. If they all were in a hospital and feeling like crap their attitude would be a lot more serious I bet.
