Groen steps down as head of PA Dems

Don't have the link handy, but Marcel Groen has stepped down as head of the PA Dems. Reportedly, Gov Wolf was upset that Groen didn't get on board with making Leach and Caglione (sp?) resign over some sexual harrassment allegations against them and forced him out. Wolf's action came after an interview Groen did with Will Bunch of the Phila Daily News.

It's too bad because Groen was a very effective organizer is mostly responsible for helping turn MontCo blue. Hopefully Dems won't get stuck with another conserva-Dem like Jim Burn or Katie McGinty who Wolf keeps pushing on state Dems.

HARRISBURG — Months before candidates face off in hotly contested races across the state, Pennsylvania’s Democratic Party is looking for a new leader.

Marcel Groen, the party chairman for the last three years, said in a letter released Friday morning that he was resigning at the request of Gov. Wolf. Groen, of Montgomery County, had come under fire for a series of mixed messages, controversial comments — and in some cases, silence — in response to sexual harassment allegations involving Democrats in the state.

Sounds like a big deal considering the timing. Changes like this will almost always ruffle feathers of those involved in the process. Some will be left pleased and some not so pleased. Hopefully the new Chairperson will be someone respected.

given a chance to defend themselves and that not all situations are the same. The gov evidently believes in guilty until proven innocent with regard to this particular matter.
