Roadside America remains open as owners search for buyer who 'appreciates' miniature display

Owners of Roadside America are looking for someone who loves the Berks County attraction to purchase and preserve the "historic display."

In a Facebook post on April 3, Roadside America said the current owners are nearing retirement and looking for the right people to take over the exhibit, billed as "the world's greatest miniature village."

Roadside America, located on a 26-acre plot off Interstate 78 in Shartlesville, is for sale for $2.3 million, according to a listing by Commonwealth Real Estate in Wyomissing.

Owner Dolores Heinsohn's two daughters are pursuing other careers and have their own dreams they want to follow, said Brian Hilbert, her son-in-law. Ideally, he said, the family is looking for someone who loves and respects the display and wants to maintain its integrity.

Since news of the sale broke, Hilbert said he has been fielding questions and concerns about the sale and the status of the business. He emphasized Roadside America remains open.

1. Roadside America is an absolute treasure

A step back in time and obviously a labor of love for the owners. I hope they can sell it to someone who will keep it going and not tear it down to build a Red Lobster or another chain. It's located on prime real estate on a busy highway.
DH and I did a day trip of Roadside America and the Yuengling brewery tour, a fun day in (mostly) PA Dutch country.
