Tomlinson declared winner in 6th Senate District

Incumbent Republican Sen. Tommy Tomlinson was declared the official winner Friday in his re-election bid after preliminary certified results show he beat Democrat Rep. Tina Davis by 74 votes. But the Davis campaign said they aren’t conceding the race yet.

Days after declaring his victory on social media, Republican incumbent state Sen. Tommy Tomlinson has officially been re-elected to the 6th District state Senate seat for four more years in what was the tightest local race of the Nov. 6 election, and the closest state office race in recent memory.

The Bucks County Board of Elections on Friday preliminarily certified vote results which show that Tomlinson beat Democratic challenger and state Rep. Tina Davis by 74 votes. The final results show Tomlinson netted 54,382 votes and Davis 54,308 votes. The margin was less than one-tenth of a percentage point and closer than the initial 100-vote spread on election night.

In a statement Friday, Tomlinson campaign manager Ryan Skoczylas said the senator was “extremely honored and humbled” to have earned the support of the voters in the 6th Senate District, which spans 13 communities and where registered Democrats slightly outnumber Republicans 82,952 to 65,768. Another 26,133 district voters are registered in other parties.
