One of my confirmed Democratic classmates is on the Coatesville area, but I know someone from my college days who thought Reagan was God and Trump is fabulous too, and she is in Paoli, which is near to my other friend. The farther out you get from the city, the less solidly blue the area is likely to be.

I think it was Carville who said PA is Philly and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between. Means more now.

An hour (or so) train ride to Philly, and if I shoot over to Trenton (about 20min from the house), it’s an hour and a half to midtown Manhattan on the train.

Our district went Hillary in ‘16. So there are quite a few librulz here.

My friend buys HUD foreclosed properties in the Poconos. The area is depressed and housing is cheap.

What you save in housing costs will more than make up for extra travel time.

Around 20 years ago, Allentown was distressed. I suspect Pottstown is distressed since Mrs Smith's pies closed. They employed a number of people. Also, maybe Reading.

Like well under $100000. Lots of beautiful old houses there. Avoid the suburbs around Reading, very red.
I’m in upper Bucks County a half hour north of Doylestown and much more affordable.

Rents are cheaper in Phila than SF and it is pretty much as liberal. Phila is pretty central and you can get around pretty easily whether you live in the city or suburbs.

here in Texas are from philly. They are super trumpers. I've been wondering if that's normal. I was definitely shocked when I realized they love humpin the trump.

There's Trumpers everywhere though. The Philly mayor race (this year) is basically decided in the primary as a Repug hasn’t been mayor in decades.

https://www.history.com/topics/early-us/whiskey-rebellion

The Whiskey Rebellion was a 1794 uprising of farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania in protest of a whiskey tax enacted by the federal government. Following years of aggression with tax collectors, the region finally exploded in a confrontation that had President Washington respond by sending troops to quell what some feared could become a full-blown revolution. Opposition to the whiskey tax and the rebellion itself built support for the Republicans, which overtook Washington’s Federalist Party for power in 1802.

South Philly and some of the River Wards and far NE are conservative, but otherwise, it's great!

Montgomery and Delawar Counties are pretty liberal. Lower Bucks County is red-necky. Upper Bucks County is horse country-ish. Central Bucks is upper middle class. Chester is akin to Upper Bucks County, but it is changing.

Nazareth is a Bethlehem-Easton suburb becoming increasingly Democratic. It's about a 10-15 min. drive to Bethlehem, a heavily Democratic city.
