Why did Pat Toomey Vote "No" on the Violence Against Women Act?

"Today the Senate voted for and passed the Violence Against Women Act. The bill does exactly what it says it does – it allows for women to have protection against sexual assault and domestic violence. This is what you would think would be a SLAM DUNK in terms of politics; this shouldn’t be a partisan issue. This bill first passed in 1996 and passed again in 2000 and then 2005….this isn’t a complicated deal."

"So – why would THIRTY ONE Republican Senators vote against this? Some say it’s a cost issue….but these same Senators – every single one of them – is pressing for larger tax cuts for millionaires paid for through deficit spending. And now it has to go to the House where they will try to obfuscate and avoid looking as if they wish not to pass this. Because – frankly…the House GOP budget would cut funding for important programs like this and SO MANY MORE."

"Because this is what Republicans refer to as “Bigger Government” and a “European Style Entitlement Society”…you know – protecting abused women."

A complete and utter asshole. I literally hate this piece of garbage. I hate the people that voted for him even more.

let me know. My bet is that he will say it will cost too much to protect women. Everything costs too much in his eyes---unless a Republican is supporting it. Bastard!

He has done nothing for our state but be an embarrassment, just like Ricky Santorum was.

4. Toomey is one of the only Senators to ever vote no on reauthorizing this bill.

In the past, Democrats and Republicans alike voted unanimously in favor of protecting women against sexual assault and domestic violence.

I never did agree with Toomey on his policies...I just never realized that he is also cruel.
