Those of you in western Pennsylvania know how Highmark insurance and UPMC corp ( a group of hospitals and even is an insurance company itself.) has basically have a falling out where UPMC won't take Highmark insurance and I am waiting for my boss to tell me more information about what our company will do considering half the hospitals--including the one in the town I live in are part of the UPMC network. It makes me worry about what I am going to do with this issue. I am paying $400.00 a month for an insurance that will probably not be taken my a hospital in case of an emergency.
OR am I going to be accused of being called a drama king again.

(18,219 posts)Your boss hasn't answered your questions yet, and it is possible that they may look into other insurance if the only hospital in your area is a UPMC hospital. Also, unless I am mistaken about this particular situation, insurance would cover in case of an emergency if you are transported to an out-of-network hospital. Wait to see what happens.

(12,319 posts)Let's all hope and pray that both UPMC and Highmark come to their collective senses by then and settle their differences. There is enough business (patients) for both.
The consumers are the ones who are hurting; CEO's making millions don't give a damn about that.
