Corbett brags about 250K jobs on State website - includes "hot mom and daughter combos"

Last edited Fri Oct 3, 2014, 08:18 AM - Edit history (9)

PA. Gov. Corbett had a debate this week in which he was arguing with his opponent about the strength of the job market in PA. Corbett said there are 250,000 open jobs in PA - just look at them all on the state jobs website that we created.

http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/6894380-74/job-site-car#axzz3Ev4chhul

"A state job portal includes job openings for exotic dancers at a bachelor party, “car dates” and “casting couch openings.”

A casting couch ad in Pittsburgh sought “hot mom and daughter combos” and “young busty females between 18-45,” according to the state's Job Gateway site, and the car date ad seeks “a sexy woman” who is older than 18.

Corbett said “because of the great work that my secretary of labor, Julia Hearthway, and all the people at labor, we created a job gateway site so people in Pennsylvania can go and look to see where there are jobs. And today that site, on average, shows about 200,000 open jobs.”

“Tom Corbett has repeatedly insulted Pennsylvanians who are searching for jobs in his failed economy, even saying it is because they are doing drugs,” said Fresh Start spokesman Mike Mikus. “He's sunk Pennsylvania from ninth to 47th in job growth and now it is clear that even his much touted website simply does not work as intended.”

The ads on the State jobs website included:

“Casting Couch – Looking for M.I.L.F.S….hot mom & daughter combos!!! Young busty females between 18-45. Please attach pic. Thank you ladies!!!”

“VIP Hostess – I have two visiting VIP gentlemen coming to town. Need a couple of female hostesses to join them for cocktailing, dinner and clubbing. Send me a couple of pictures of yourself – under 30 please, if you are highly attractive and in need of $$...”

“Bachelor Party – Looking for one or two dancers for a bachelor party in June. Please send photos and other info/rates.”

“Dancing – We are planning a private party for 15 to 20 guys, looking for 2 girls to dance for us. Cash plus tips.”

There were also four listings for “Car dates,” a euphemism for prostitution."

In reality, the number of persons employed in Pa. has decreased by 70,000 people in the last 2 months.

Meanwhile, Pa ranks 47th in job creation among the states, after having been in the top 10 of states before Corbett took office.

---
Because of the budget cuts of Corbett and the Repub controlled Legislature, 27,000 jobs have been lost in public education in PA. since Corbett took office. I doubt any of those former public school teachers are interested in working as "car dates."

----
As noted below in the comments, the state job website uses robots to copy over job postings from multiple websites. Therefore, the same job may be posted 5 times on the state website, because the employer listed it on 5 other websites. Therefore, there definitely are not 250,000 real jobs available, even if are willing to be an "escort for gentlemen."
----
As noted below in the comments, this is part of a broader political issue. Corbett is claiming there are plenty of jobs out there for people who want to work, and his economic policies (which reduced business taxes by $1 billion) are working. He also previously claimed that the main reason why people are unemployed is because they can't pass drug tests. By trying to find every job they can possibly list, and listing them multiple times, he has tried to create a campaign sound bite which he tried to use a couple days ago in a debate with opponent Tom Wolf.

-----
Since several top Corbett appointees (including his former top spokesman and a department head) were part of a circle of high ranking officials who were found to be trading porn and sexual harassment jokes on their state government email accounts, I can imagine the following ad showing up on the state jobs website:

"Wanted: Busty young actresses to appear in videos. Must like golf-ball licking and hate public school teachers. Must be willing to dress up like subservient secretaries who serve their bosses well. Contact - whydidntweprosecutesanduskysooner@pa.us"

I just lost my job, and I have tried to use that website. Not only is there a ton of jobs you only found on craigslist up until now, but most of the jobs listed have been listed for months----and were filled months ago.

I guess once they list a job, they just leave it there so that the numbers will look good. I hadn't realized that was the case, but it makes sense now.

I hope things turn around for you soon.

It makes sense that anything created by the Core-butt administration would be worthless.

I don't know that Corbett created this website, but I do know that his administration is pulling every job they can into it so that it looks like WE are the reason that we don't have a job. You know the talking points---lazy, drug addicts, entitled. When the GOP can say that there are 200,000 jobs unfilled, you know what they are trying to say.

Another thing that I have encountered is the same job listed several times. Anyone who wants to know how deceptive that 200,000 jobs available only has to do some searches on the site. And I welcome people to do that.

I think that they are robo-copying from every job placement site there is. If you look carefully, you will find that the same job is listed several times (making it a lot easier to get to the 200,000 number). I believe they are pulling from craigslist, monster, indeed, and all the other sites. Any company that is listing a job on more than one board (and many do) will have duplicate listings. I found one job listed 5 times. That certainly cuts the real number of available jobs down.

That should be publicized.

Apparently, some of the jobs in highest demand require a commercial driver's license and a very clean driving record. If your driving record is not clean, the company sometimes can't get you on their insurance.

As someone noted over at www.dailykos.com, if answering an ad could result in you ending up in a burlap sack in the trunk of some guy's car, I don't think it should be counted as an "open job."
