Slashing suspect must go to jail on 18th birthday

Slashing suspect Hribal must go to county jail on 18th birthday, judge rules

Alex Hribal, charged with a knife rampage at Franklin Regional High School last year, will be jailed with men when he turns 18 next month.
He is accused of slashing and stabbing his way down a school hallway with two kitchen knives.

The judge said the jail is the only place Hribal can be sent once he turns 18.
Warden John Walton said Hribal, who is being charged as an adult in the stabbing of 21 people at the school on April 9, 2014, will get the same treatment as any teen transitioning into the jail from the detention center.

Hribal, who was not at the hearing, is receiving mental health treatment from doctors who visit the juvenile detention center where he has been held since his arrest.

I saw his attorney on the local news and he said that Alex will be in a cell 23 hrs a day without (as much or any?) therapy. He looks like he's around 15 and would be easy prey for the hardened criminals at the county jail. He has not been tried yet. He is obviously still mentally disturbed and unfit for trial.

However... legally he is an adult. I hope the warden and guards will take every precaution for his safety at the jail.

(I know. What he did was horrible and I have complete respect and compassion for his victims. I used to live in that school district and have a friend whose daughter witnessed the stabbings.)
