Rally supporting social services, 1/21 in Beaver, Pa

For any of you in or near Beaver County, there is a rally called “Stand Up for Peace, Jobs and Justice,” in front of the Beaver County courthouse on Sat, Jan 21st at 1PM.

Details:

Those organizations, which include the Beaver County NAACP, the Beaver Lawrence Central Labor Council, the Progressive Democrats and Moral Mondays, are gathering to voice their support for a multitude of programs they said could be threatened under the presidency of Donald Trump.

Called “Stand Up for Peace, Jobs and Justice,” the rally will start at 1 p.m. in front of the Beaver County Courthouse. It is expected to last about two hours.

Tina Shannon, an organizer of the event, said Tuesday that those in attendance will voice their support for programs like Social Security, Medicare, a $15 minimum wage and access to affordable health care.

I went down to check out the event - maybe 100 or so people, but fairly diverse crowd. The speakers were generally on the be nice/we're all Americans/milquetoasty side. One bright spot was an announcement that Young Democrats of Beaver County has been re-started and generated interest and membersships. At the end, I got the impression that there might be Moral Mondays coming to the county courthouse in the near future.
