SOUTH CAROLINA
1. GET REGISTERED

Get registered to vote with your current name at your current address by the 31st day
before Election Day.

To vote in the November 6th, 2012 general election you must register by October 6th,
2012.

2. WHAT TO BRING

MAKE SURE YOU BRING one of these with your current name and address to the
polls to be sure your vote counts

• Voter Registration Card
• Driver's License
• DMV-issued ID Card

FIRST TIME VOTER:
Note that if you are a first-time voter, you cannot vote with just your Voter
Registration Card. Bring proof of ID with you the first time you vote that is
either a valid photo ID or a document, such as a utility bill, that has your
current name and current address.

3. VOTE!
Election Day is Tuesday November 6, 2012. Polls in South Carolina
will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

EARLY VOTE:
Visit your county voter registration office, complete an application, and cast your
ballot. You may vote absentee in person up until 5:00 p.m. on the day before the
election.

VOTE BY MAIL:
If you meet certain qualifications, you may be able to vote absentee by mail. You’ll
need to request an absentee ballot by sending absentee application to your county
registration office by 5pm on November 2, 2012 for voting in the November 6, 2012
general election. Your ballot must be received by your county registration office either
by mail or in-person delivery by 7:00 p.m. on election day.

Virginia and North Carolina are becoming competitive states for us. There is no reason South Carolina can't join them.
