Charleston County Democrats hold convention on Johns Island ahead of midterm elections
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) Charleston County Democrats gathered on Johns Island for their county convention as party leaders and candidates worked to rally support ahead of the midterm elections.
Thomas Dixon, chairman of the Charleston County Democrats, said the event was open to residents across the county and designed to connect voters with candidates.
All of our constituents throughout Charleston County have been invited to come in and to mix and mingle with our candidates right now, Dixon said. We have a great variety of speakers addressing our democratic value issues and the fact that we are in a midterm election year.
Organizers said the convention aimed to address Democratic value issues facing the state and the party. Dixon said the goal was to raise awareness about candidates and the issues Democrats are emphasizing.
